Officiating Opportunity

IHSA Official and ITCCOA member, Dan Moy, has created a wonderful opportunity for officials interested in learning more about officiating track & field meets for people with disabilities. In this case, specifically with athletes from the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired, in Jacksonville.

ISVI is hosting a triangular meet on Thursday, September 19th from 2:00 - 4:00PM.

The ISVI coach, Jim Raabe, has offered to meet with officials one hour prior to the meet (1:00PM) to explain some of the background of the meet, ISVI, and the athletes that will be competing.

The officials who take up this offer are not required to serve in any official capacity. They are simply encouraged to observe and learn.

Those who desire to arrive earlier can join Dan and others for lunch (around noon).  Just let Dan know.

Some of the meet information is as follows:

    It is a Tri-state Meet:  Illinois, Wisconsin, and Missouri.    

    Grades  7 thru 12 , Boys and Girls  

    Three different divisions according to disability.

    TRACK EVENTS; 60M, 200M, 400M, 800M-tandem, 1600M-tandem, 600M-shuttle, 1200M-shuttle

    FIELD EVENTS: high jump, shot put, running long jump, running triple jump, three consecutive hops, standing long jump.

    NO relays, pole vault, discus or hurdles.
